ACCT5930 Assessment Task 2 - Term 1 2023

Date Friday 31 March 2023 (Week 7)

Location Online in Moodle

Time 12pm (noon-day time) or 5pm Sydney time. Please check the time difference if based

in another location.

Please go to ‘Time selection for Assessment Task 2’ to select your timeslot from one of

the two alternatives. If you do not select a time you will not be able to access the quiz on

the day. You will be able to enrol or change your time up until 9pm Sydney time Thursday

30 March.

Duration 35 minutes.

You will have up to 10 minutes to commence the quiz after the start time. Therefore, to

ensure you have the whole 35 minutes to complete the assessment you will need to start

no later than 10 minutes past your allocated start time.

Weighting 15% towards your final grade.

Questions There will be a number of questions of unequal value that will total to 30 marks (which will

then be converted back to a mark out of 15).

There will be a mix of multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions and problems.

A structure of the marks per page/question will be on Moodle by 5pm Wednesday week 7

to help you navigate the quiz.

Allowed

materials

It will be an open book quiz, however you will need to know your content without referring

to notes, to be able to complete the quiz in the allocated time.

Generative

AI tools

UNSW appreciates the potential of these tools and are excited to explore ways to use AI

to enrich your learning experience while maintaining the integrity of our programs and

therefore of your degrees. You must avoid overdependence on any one tool, and

independent thought and knowledge remains essential. ChatGPT and other similar tools

are unlikely to help you complete this quiz.

Topics

covered

Topics 4-5 including all class materials, allocated readings, assigned problems and

additional content provided. Please note that the content in later weeks builds on the earlier

weeks, therefore it is expected that you understand topics 1-3 to complete the quiz.

Practice

questions

We have extracted some relevant questions from past papers to assist in your study.

These have been converted into an online practice test available under the Assessment

Task 2 section. We would recommend you attempt this online to become familiar with how

you may be asked to complete questions in the online environment. The purpose is to

familiarise you with the technology and practice completing answers in the formats

required.

The weekly revision activities are another good resource for study.

Please note that each term is unique, and students should not infer anything about this

term’s examination from the past questions.

Important

notes

Students are expected to complete the quiz independently. You are not allowed to

copy, take photos, copy the work of another student, or communicate with others during

the quiz. Ignoring this instruction is considered academic misconduct.

Before commencing the quiz, it is advisable to be free of any distractions during the

quiz time. Also, we advise you to make sure your internet connection is stable (and is

fast enough).

2

Finally, please ensure that you plan your time accordingly. If you log out of the quiz

during its completion, or your connection to the quiz is interrupted, you may log back

into the quiz and resume the attempt in progress. Your answers to the questions

completed will have been saved. Remember, however, that the timer continues (even

when you are not logged into the quiz). Once the time has elapsed, your responses up

to the ending time will automatically be submitted and graded (irrespective of whether

you have finished, or are logged into the quiz or not).

Academic

integrity

pledge

To attempt the quiz you will be asked to accept the following conditions upon

commencement of the quiz:

UNSW student online assessment academic integrity pledge

For this online assessment:

I agree to be bound by the following UNSW online academic code of conduct:

As a member of the UNSW community, I will not participate in or tolerate academic

dishonesty.

I will do this graded online assessment work on my own. In the case where I

collaborate with others this would be an act of academic dishonesty and would have

serious consequences for my continued studies.

I agree that I was not provided with any assistance from other students including

screenshots or answers.

I agree to not share the answers and not take any screenshots.

I agree to not provide any other students with any screenshots or answers because

this will create an unfair advantage of my fellow students and decrease their learning

opportunity.

I agree to not provide any answers or screenshots on any third-party websites

because the questions are the intellectual property of the university and this would be

giving away the property.

I will undertake the online assessment alone in a private room and agree that I will

not have other people in the room with me when I undertake this online assessment.

I will switch my mobile phone to silent, put it face down somewhere in my room away

from the computer/laptop and not use the mobile phone during the online

assessment.

By clicking on the ‘Attempt quiz now’ button, I agree to the above that I follow the binding

Code UNSW to not engage in academic dishonesty.

Issues during

the quiz

If there is an issue, please contact Kate Morgan at k.morgan@unsw.edu.au, as I will be

monitoring my email throughout the quizzes. If you can, please continue working on your

quiz while you wait for a response. Note, you are able to take a screenshot of any technical

issues during the exam for the purpose of sending to a seminar leader.

All content relating to this assessment task will be loaded under the section ‘Assessment Task 2’. If you have

any questions about this assessment, please ask them in the ‘Assessment task 2’ Q&A forum. If we are

asked questions directly about the assessment, and the answer is relevant to other students, we will load

these questions and answers into the Q&A forum.

Please continue to monitor the Moodle announcements and your student emails in case of any further

updates.
